Vatos Tacos, Itaewon South Korea

June 7, 2012 By Tamara

As I said in the first Seoul post, Vatos Tacos needs its own post. This will be short and  sweet so that we can focus on the food.  3 points.  1. Its easy to find. Just go to their website. I used the directions from there and had no problems finding it.  2. The service is not that great. I walked in and there was no greeting. The place is crazy small and it was … [Read more...]

Seoul Stealers part 2

June 4, 2012 By Tamara

I don't know why I thought I would be immune to the staring, pointing, laughing, or the repeated exclamations of "oh chin cha waygook in!" in Seoul. But it was definitely present and I feel more intense than in Ulsan. Maybe it's the fact that there are so many more Koreans living in Seoul and I was traveling solo, but it gets annoying. I use to just nod and smile. But now it … [Read more...]

Seoul stealers!

June 1, 2012 By Tamara

Monday May 28th was a national holiday in South Korea. It was Buddha's birthday. I don't know how old he turned but lots of birthday love and decorations could be seen all over Ulsan.  Since it was a 3-day weekend I took the opportunity to get out of Ulsan! And I visited Seoul.  I left my house after 7am on Saturday and was able to catch the 8:00 am bus from Ulsan express bus … [Read more...]

It’s official…I love KPOP…well aLMosT :)

May 31, 2012 By Tamara

Since April or maybe March, I've been hearing this song everywhere. In the department stores, walking down the street, blaring through peoples headphones when I'm on the bus...everywhere! It was hard not to fall in love with it!  But I should preface my story with this tidbit....I don't like KPOP. I'm just not a fan of all the plastic surgery, songs talking about "I'm so … [Read more...]

Seoul preview

May 29, 2012 By Tamara

I have to hurry off to catch the bus to art class. But I decided to quickly do a preview of my weekend in Seoul which I will post more about later tonight. My father...Buddha! the "cabin" in the spa where I stayed 2 nights Dos Tacos in Hongdae, but are they the best Mexican place in Seoul?..Nope found another one :) The REAL face of Korea.... Plastic surgery ads were … [Read more...]

Vegan stalker, Zuzana Light and hyperpigmetation

May 20, 2012 By Tamara

Yup you read that correctly...Vegan Stalker. Since my challenge has been over I always get confused when I'm at the market. My internal dialogue usually goes as follows:   What should I buy? Wait I CAN  buy anything I'm not vegan anymore...right? hmmm am I a pescatarian again? I don't know? I'm so hungry...why do I always go food shopping on an empty stomach? … [Read more...]

Tailor Made!

May 17, 2012 By Tamara

Does this fabric look familiar?? I finally got my skirts back from the "tailor". I dropped of 2 of the fabrics I purchased in Daegu last month with a "reformer" in Mugeo-dong.  They use this word a lot here. So she's not really a seamstress or a tailor....*shrugs* Anyway the girl is pretty young and has a really cute shop. I brought along pictures of the style of skirts I … [Read more...]

Busan, My second home

May 5, 2012 By Tamara

While my school had their annual "school picnic" yesterday, I was given the day off! YAY me!...I didn't really care why they gave me the day off as opposed to going to the picnic, but I took the opportunity to get away and enjoy some nice weather. Initially I was headed out to Seoul for the weekend, but then decided to go window shopping in Nampo-dong, Busan instead. This … [Read more...]

Reminiscing: Cruising

May 1, 2012 By Tamara

I love taking cruises. Especially with my mom. Cruising is a great way to see many destinations in a short amount of time. Let's face it, some people don't have a year or 2 months to go off and travel freely. But you can find the perfect cruise even if you have as little as a weekend. Here are some of the reasons why I love cruises...in pictures!    Over packing :) Me last … [Read more...]
