Traveling Haircare: Welcome Teakia!

August 5, 2011 By Tamara

Name:   My name is Teakia              Where are you from:  I am born and raised in Boston, MA *

*However my family has its roots in Agusta GA both my mom and dad’s side, So I will always be a GA Peach at heart 🙂

How long have you been natural?

I have been natural since 2003 (8 yrs) . I had to wait until college to do the Big chop, My grandmother was not having it she would not allow me to cut my long relaxed hair. So when I turned 18 and moved away to college I went ahead and got rid of the relaxer!

Teakia with Locks

I’m proud to say that my decsion to “Go Natural” inspired women in my family to go natural as well including my grandmother and an aunt 🙂 Over my natural hair life span I have done many different things locks, big fro, short cuts, color you name it and I have loved it all.

Twistout

1. Let’s talk about one of you most recent trips and your haircare regimen during! ( feel free to name some of your favorite products)

When I travel I like to bring along my slik head tie and 100% Shea Butter. These two items are easy to remeber and work great for touching up and perserving hair styles over an exstened weekend, not to mention Shea Butter keeps my skin glowing and smelling yummy.

Curly Fro

2. What do you love about being natural? What annoys you?

I love being natural because it makes me feel frealess and sexy. My natural is verstile and doesn’t put any restirctions on my camilion-like sense of style, it is a lovely extension and experession of who I am. I would never change it.
