Tailor Made!

May 17, 2012 By Tamara

Does this fabric look familiar??
I finally got my skirts back from the “tailor”. I dropped of 2 of the fabrics I purchased in Daegu
last month with a “reformer” in Mugeo-dong.  They use this word a lot here. So she’s not really a seamstress or a tailor….*shrugs*
Anyway the girl is pretty young and has a really cute shop. I brought along pictures of the style of skirts I was creating.
She did such an awesome job! I wanted the zebra print skirt to hang just below my waist, fall and inch pass my knees and have pockets. And the black flower print to have a wider band fall 2 inches about my knees and belt loops. She did stellar work on the pleating too! I’ll have to try them on and take pictures so that you can see the full effect!.
I paid 20,000 won for both skirts. So like $9.99 for each skirt. Not bad considering they are tailor made to fit my body perfectly. ACTUALLY the zebra print is just a tad bit too big. I lost maybe an inch around my waist after the vegan challenge. Its OK though. I didn’t want to go another week without this skirt in my closet.
By the way she speaks no English and my Korean in minimal 🙂
So we did a lot of pantomiming and Google translating. Thank you for smart phones!

How do you like the skirts? Do you want me to take a picture wearing them to show a close view? Have you even had anything “tailor made”?
