Day 1: Seoul to Malaysia Airport!

February 29, 2012 By Tamara

My trip to Malaysia and Singapore started with a stop over in Seoul. I had planned on going to Seoul 2 days earlier to explore but when the weekend came I just didn't feel like it. I felt the need to just sloth around my apartment and relax. And get myself mentally prepared for anything and everything I would experience on this next trip. I headed to Seoul the day of my … [Read more...]

Korean Foodie Photography = KoFoTog

February 21, 2012 By Tamara

Hey family.  So here is another edition of Korean food pictures. I've decided to call these entries "KoFoTog" for Korean Foodie Photography.  Hahaha I know I know but it is a lot shorter than writing Korean Foodie Photography in the title every time.  Anyway here goes some treats! Beef stew... reminded me of oxtail! There was a bowl on the table just for … [Read more...]

Korean Street Food #1

February 20, 2012 By Tamara

I haven't done my weekly food photos in a very long time haha. So here goes some interesting korean street food  treats :) While out with some co-workers I got to try a popular Korean street treat called "kieran bang". It was 3,000won for four palm sized cakes. The batter reminds me of the batter we had in university for the waffle makers in the dining … [Read more...]

Trimming natural hair

trimming natural hair

*Sigggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh* I've been in Ulsan for almost 6 months now. Actually 6 months on the 19 of this month! When I first arrived for about the first 2.5 months I've had the same regimen I used while still in the states AND I was using bottled water mainly to care for my hair. After a while this became tedious and costly. So I stopped. I stopped and used the … [Read more...]

February 18, 2012 By Tamara

Valentines Day here is a bit different than in the states. On this day Korean girlfriends give gives to their significant others. Whereas in the U.S. its equal exchange, depending on the couple :( One month later on March 14th is White day where the reverse happens. The guy gives the gift to his significant other. Then in April is Black day, can you guess what … [Read more...]

Buddhist Temple Stay update

February 16, 2012 By Tamara

Can I just say that doing a temple stay  was one of the best decisions I've made since 2012 began. Not to stay that I've made any bad decisions but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.I packed a simple overnight backpack with some necessities. (The temple gives you a uniform but when I arrived my guide assured me that me my own clothes would be more comfortable.)  When I … [Read more...]

Graduation

February 9, 2012 By Tamara

Yay! The 3rd graders are graduating on friday (02/10/12). But honestly I only teach 1st and 2nd graders so I'm pretty much like whatever haha. The funny thing is though that after the ceremony the teachers have to position themselves around town at the local hangout spots to watch over the students. I guess in the past they have gone "buckwild" ( is that still a slang term?) … [Read more...]

Shampoo Bars!

February 5, 2012 By Tamara

I recently visited Olive and Young in Samsan-dong. This store carries tons of international brands of cosmetic products and snacks. So if you are missing something from home and don't want to order online, I suggest checking here first!I was missing my favorite Maybeline mascara (the one in the pink and green tube). Well they didn't have that version but they have Maybeline … [Read more...]
