Song Jeong Beach and MeMe Restaurant Busan

April 30, 2012 By Tamara

I never made it to the Busan aquarium on Saturday 🙁
BUT…
I did find MeMe organic food restaurant! Yay me! After wondering around the beach with no idea how to get over the barrier of trees, I stumbled upon a tourist information center. The lady inside was very helpful.
In my broken Korean and her broken English, we were able to figure out how I could walk over to MeMe.
Map in tow I headed back out towards the beach. This time knowing that I should take a right by the restrooms and then another right…on to the highway?!! Well at least that’s how it appeared on the map.
The second right turn landed me on a main road…*whew*. Now I just needed to find the building which proved to be quite easy.
The atmosphere inside this cozy dining haven that over looks Song Jeong beach is divine. See for yourself!
Its actually the perfect chill spot if you are alone. And it would make a nice date option too 🙂
They were playing Jazz music the entire time. On the wall next to the bread is Bessie Smith!!
I sat in the “indoor outdoor” section! It was so nice. It was even nicer once the noisy Korean couple arguing about types of beer finished their meal and peaced out. Oh the joys of learning a new language. The silence eventually becomes noise (I will explain what I mean about this in another post).
The owner came out to greet me and explain the menu, which was in English and Korean.
Only paying attention to the English captions I ordered, Alfredo cream pasta.
Had I read the Korean description I would have realized that I ordered “Shrimp Bacon Cream pasta”.  My pasta has an overwhelming bacony taste. But I just picked out as much bacon chunks as possible. I could hear my Vegan Stalker laughing behind me ( I will also explain the vegan stalker in another post).

The food there was pretty pricey. Unless you get a soup which was around 5,000 to 8,000 won. But it was hot out and I didn’t feel for soup. My meal cost 18,000 won. Which is normal if you’re with another person and split.

It was when I got the receipt that I read the Korean for what I ordered.  ” 새 우” is shrimp. “배이컨” is Konglish for bacon. And “크림” is Konglish for cream. That was one expensive lunch ha ha. Won’t be doing that again especially since I am trying to hardcore save now for the next move.
Would I recommend this place? Of course! The food came out entirely too fast though but it was decent. You also get the option for tea or coffee at the end of your meal. The location is amazing. You can take a walk around the beach after your meal.
Would I go back? Probably not…well not alone ha ha. Not for that price 🙁
If you get a chance to visit this restaurant in Busan, let me know how you enjoy it!
