Renewing with BEDA

February 23, 2014 By Tamara

We (current teachers) received an email from BEDA with the renewal application for the 2014/2015 school year.

It’s due by the end of the month.

To renew or not to renew?

To renew or not to renew?

Not sure if I am renewing with BEDA though. As you know I am applying to become a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. That process is moving along but anything can happen at this point.

Annnd one of my goals is to become a diplomat. And quite frankly I need to continue on the path of preparation with this endevour.

ESL teaching isn’t necessarily  moving me in that direction. Though I always look for opportunities to learn and grow while I travel, it may be time to call it quits.

Le sigh*

I have some updates to finish. Unfortunately I was sick last weekend and didn’t accomplish most any of my blogging goals. And school last week was CRAZYYY! Plus we had an open house.

Yesterday I went on a school trip to La Sierra Nevada in Granada. It was fun but Aunt flow decided to have me keel over in pain so it wasn’t as enjoyable for me 🙁

The kiddos had fun though which was most important.

How was your weekend? Anyone have any questions they still want me to answer about BEDA?

    Hello,

I had my Beda interview last month Feb 19th. I am concerned about not having TESOL cert., although I was told it isnt necessary. I have some tutoring experience and degree in Spanish but no teaching. ….trying to be positive but realistic as well. I would greatly appreciate feedback/advice? Thank you 🙂

Hi Clare! If you feel as though you need more insight into ESL teaching you should probably do a TESOL/TEFL class. There are many online classes to choose from. Sometimes you can find a group on coupon as well. I honestly think it is beneficial if you’ve never been in the classroom. You can also try to get some volunteer time at a local schoolas a teaching assistant.

    Hi Tamara,

What does the BEDA renewal process involve? Do we have to interview again?

All aboard!
