Day 3: Malaysia Street Food Tour!

March 6, 2012 By Tamara

When I was walking down the steps to exit the hostel this is what I saw:

Thank you drunken man for solidifying the fact that need to stay somewhere else tonight! I stepped over him and carried on. It was 8am and nothing was open. So I headed in the direction of Times Square mall again. I passed the bench I stopped on the night before.

I looked up an realized that the mall was right behind me. Had I look pass the building near by I would have seen it. But it was dark outside so I missed it.

The mall wasn’t open yet so I went into the Starbucks on the first level. I chilled out there for an hour looking over my TripIt and my map.

Oh! If you don’t use TripIt.com you should. I downloaded the app for my IPOD and was able to have all of my travel details electronically stored in a safe place. I read over my itinerary. Later that night I had a street food tour in the suburbs about an hour away. And tomorrow I have a cooking class with LAZAT cooking school.

I planned on walking around Times Square for a few hours. Then having lunch and afterwards returning to the hostel to get my belongings and go check into the hotel at 2pm.

When I checked into Apple Hotel I had to laugh. That place was even nastier than the hostel. And there was rat dung on the ground and hair all over the bathroom. No more budget hotels.

I put my bags on the table and called my mom on skype. At least they have free wifi. She laughed and was equally grossed out by the room. I couldn’t leave though. I didn’t want to waste anymore money.

I left for the food tour really early. It would take me about an hour to get to the area and I didn’t want to be late. I arrived an hour early and just sat at the bus stop people watching.

The tour was great and I loved the tour guide Farah! I do recommend trying the Malaysia street food tour if you visit KL. You can find more information on their website.

After the tour, which last about 4 hours, the guide dropped me back to my hotel. That was so sweet of her to do  for me:)

I reluctantly took a shower and got ready for bed.

I put on my pajamas but decided to sleep in my shoes. I also just slept on top of the sheets and placed my winter coat over my body and head. The trains open at 6am.

All I had to do was sleep a few hours and then I can wake up, get ready and check out of that freaking gross place!

Good night… 🙁
