LuvNaturals Hair Products review

October 10, 2012 By Tamara

Yes I know! I write about my travel life and rarely about product reviews. As you know I’ve have been back in America now and of course I am finding new things to write about 🙂 But let me just say that no one is paying me to do this mess. I just needed to share what I’ve been wasting my money on since I returned from Asia 🙂
Out of obvious boredom and frivolous spending I decided to order the Kimmaytube product line for natural hair. After all this is the lady that ingeniously concocted the “kimmaytube leave in” 2 years ago on you YouTube. So of course her product line will be on point.
*sigh*Well my hair apparently does not love it. It just doesn’t. I am not the type of person to try  things a million times in the hopes that it will eventually do something. Nope.
It’s not necessary. Traveling has taught me this very valuable lesson.
Especially not with with my hair.  It reacts very quickly to change. Good or bad.

The Run down:

Step 1 which entails the detangler really loosened my hair. But honestly once my hair is drenched in water it’s really not that hard to detangle.  It just takes time!
So this product I thought probably isn’t necessary for me.
Step 2 consists of the shampoo. I really liked that the shampoo didn’t get very “sudsy” like dish soap. It was more creamy and smooth like lotion. But it still cleaned my scalp very well. There were not little flake’s the next day and no itchy spots.
I couldn’t quite get the scent of the products. They are are not strong but nothing I would rave about. You know like Herbal Essence or something really lovely, fruity and sweet. I actually like when my shampoo and conditioner has a strong yummy scent that lingers in my tresses all week 🙂
During this step I was still also pulling out shed hair and my hair did feel very soft. No brittleness that is prone with some very harsh shampoos. So kudos to her for making a decent cleanser.
Step 3 When I rinsed out the cleanser and started to apply the conditioner I noticed I was still pulling out more shed hair. I looked over the pieces to make sure there were no bulbs attached to the strands. Some did some didn’t. The ingredients in the conditioner are mostly natural. And my hair is familiar with many of them so I didn’t freak out too much. As I continued to apply the product I noticed that it didn’t do anything to my curls. Some of my “favorite” conditioners make my curls stand at attention.
But there was noo curl popping…nothing. It just felt like I was putting lotion in my hair.
I love when my hair is wet. I always looked like a poodle ha ha.

My hair after all four steps. I was a big poofy mess.

Step 4 the leave in conditioner I was surprised contains no Aloe vera juice. What!!! She raved about adding aloe vera juice in her previous concoction. I think slippery elm was the replacement. Again my hair didn’t look any different than when I applied the conditioner. I feel like my curls were angry or dormant. I don’t know but when I use my aubrey organics conditoner my hair is springy and hydrated. But not so poofy 🙁

I guess the moral of the story is what works for one, may not work for another in this natural hair game. Or the real moral is don’t online “window shop” when you are bore! HA! You may end up regretting it ha ha.

To that avail I have decided to sell the products that I have instead of giving them away. And especially since they don’t have a return policy.  All bottles were used once except for step 3 which I used again when I rinsed out my hair 2 days later. Email me if you are interested.

Have you used the luvnaturals products? How do you like them?

oh sorry to hear this. I wish I was near to you I would buy them since I want to try them and she’s not shipping them internationally. Maybe you could mix them with something and get value for money.

Yes I noticed that and wondered why she isn’t shipping internationally yet. I could go to the post office and check to see how much it is to ship it to Japan if you want them. Let me know 🙂
Her old leave in conditoner recipe still works for me. And that information was free. Shame on me he he he 🙂
