Last day is near…

July 4, 2012 By Tamara

The last day of classes that is!
14 more days until my week long summer camp and then freedom for two weeks!
rice cake gift from a parent to all the teachers 🙂
Classes end on the 20th and then there is one week of camp starting on the 23rd. I will have four classes every day. For winter camp I have 8 classes so I’m pretty excited!

On the 28th I will to Phuket, Thailand to finish the classroom portion of the TESOL course I’ve been taking since January.

But get this scary bit of information.

The program booked a room for me in a hotel near by the school since I arrive on the weekend before the start of class.

I researched the hotel and found that some student from another TEFL program in the same area committed suicide in 2010 in that very hotel.

That kind of gave me the hEe-beE-gi-bees! How do you even spell that?..*shrugs.

Anyway…I will be finding my own accommodations for that weekend. Especially since its my birthday weekend.

Upon further review of news in Phuket…it really seems like I don’t need to spend too much time wondering around there after my class ends. Its sounds a bit dangerous 🙁
Who knew! But then again you have to experiences these places for yourself before you can judge.

Anyway if you are interested here is the link to the local town news paper.

When I return from Thailand I will officially have 2 weeks left in South Korea.

My my my how the times has flown 🙁

Have you traveled to Thailand? If so, how was your trip??

p.s. Happy 4th of July! Eat some Barbecue for me!!!

hi hun, just read the article, how sad, don’t let that scare you too much though, Thai people i foind were not violent, just don’t give into the touristy thing young foreigners do there of wandering the streets late at night. a;ways hang around with other people at night, and walk back to your hotel with somebody in the evening.
Phuket is nice, you will have a great time there, street food is lovely!
will you have time to travel outside of Phuket at all?
oh and hun, whatever you do, don’t hold anybody’s else’s packages/luggage/bag/etc, if you are caught with any drugs on you, you easily get 99 years in prison, with no pardon from the king, be very careful with that. if people around you start doing drugs (weed, opium, speed, whatever), walk away from the group.
    xxx

Thanks for the sound advice! I needed the perspective from someone who has already been there. I got caught up reading about all the tourist deaths 🙁 Thanks so much for your advice LouLou!

All aboard!
