Coconut Milk for Natural Hair

November 21, 2011 By Tamara

I have been keeping my hair in protective styles in the last few months because frankly it makes life easier when you are always on the go.
But as the weather changes I have noticed that not only does my skin but my tresses need some extra moisture these days.
Now is South Korea there is no opportunity to indulge in product junky behavior. So keeping your hair regimen simple and shopping in your kitchen (or the grocery store) is the best option.
I know coconut milk/oil/cream, works well in my natural hair especially when it needs to be revived. So I set out to find some in the international market in the multiplaza across from LOTTE Department store here in Ulsan.
A picture story follows ๐Ÿ™‚
Wash day hair…unraveled twist and some really thirsty tresses!
Chose this brand because it had 60% coconut milk and water…nothing else!
Yummy!
I used about half the can. I didn’t add anything to it….no oils or anything since my hair was filled with product (shea butter etc)
Apply the milk to your natural hair
Cover with a shower cap. I used a plastic bag since I have a lot of hair. I left it on for maybe 2 hours. So do some work while your hair steams…or…
…take a nap on your cozy heated floor ๐Ÿ™‚
After I awoke I wash my hair using my usual regimen and then put in large twist for bed. Here you see happy and hydrated tresses!
ย
Try it out and let me know what coconut mixture your create and how much your hair loves it!ย
