Baboons!

January 9, 2015 By Tamara

I almost lost my life to a family of Baboons today! Oh dear God!!!

I’m currently in the capital city for a doctors appointment.

SIDENOTE: This was pre-arranged by the PC medical staff. Volunteers are not just allowed to wonder up to Gaborone whenever they feel the need. We must get special permission.

OK now after my final appointment I headed back the Peace Corps office. The building is a part of an industrial park situated beside two huge mountains. Entering from the farther end I walked along the parking lot towards what looked like a short cut.

I saw two guys coming towards me and thought “oh great a path!”.

Immediately upon entering the path I realized it was a bad idea…very bad!
Staring up at me was a giant pink booty BABOON! Oh dear God please don’t eat me. Along the path were more BABOONS, I counted 4!

What do I do! No one mentioned this during training :-/

I walked as calmly as humanly possible. Once I realized they were no longer watching me, I ran to the nearest building. Thankfully the office was insight. *phew*

My life flashed before my eyes man!

Note to self: Never take short cuts!
