I have a slight obsession with Jake Gyllenhaal. I’m actually not sure when it started but I adore him, his acting ability and his eyes *swoons*.
On Sunday night I ventured out to the movies with my sister and her friends. We decided to see Resident Evil in 3D. Now I haven’t been to the movies in America in years. I think the last movie I saw was…actually I don’t even remember. But some how I ended up paying for 3 tickets that totaled $48.00!!!!
Are you kidding me! I kindly asked the young girl manning the cash wrap how much was each ticket. Apparently $16.00!! I did for a second think I was getting free popcorn or at least a coupon.
I’m just saying¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
BUT there was nothing. Just some cool 3D glasses and my receipt.

Resident Evil was pretty good and even better in 3D. Yes there will be another one based on the ending. How many video games do they have out anyway? I was excited to see a bit of Tokyo in the movie since I will be heading to Japan in the spring.
Once the movie ended we congregated outside the theater debating the next move. Someone pointed out that End of Watch which was playing in the adjacent theater was starting in a few minutes. So like some pubescent teens we “snuck in”.
And no I don’t feel bad because I paid $16 freaking dollars for one ticket. AND the movie theaters in Thailand are much nicer and SAFER than the theaters in the U.S.(no shootings) and it was the equivalent of like $6. They even have a red curtain that opens revealing the IMAX screen.
I am so glad we saw that movie! It was so good. Michael Peña and Jake Gyllenhaal were amazing! I really felt like they were really cops. Honestly I couldn’t even sleep that night because the last 20 minutes of the movie felt so real that I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Damn! Is life really like that in South Central California? Futhermore its scary some of the situations police officers put their lives on the line for every day they are on duty. Nothing but respect man!…that’s all I have.
Another thing that kept me up is the portrayal of the violence among mexican and black street gangs in South Central. How much of that was over sensationalized? I can only imagine what some of my students in South Korea will interpret about the lives of Mexicans and Black people in America after watching it. * Sigh*
Well I won’t get into that now. But go watch the movie!
And Jake is doing an off broadway show now in New York City 🙂 You can find more information here. I was wondering why he has been walking around looking like Ted Kacynski o_0.
Until next time 🙂
