Saigon Cooking School

September 2, 2012 By Tamara

If you’ve been reading up on my travels for awhile you certainly aren’t surprised that I joined a cooking class in Ho Chi Minh City!

The  Saigon Cooking School class was really small and consisted of me ( the Jamaican American), an older couple from France, and a young woman from Costa Rica.
I love it because it was so small and intimate. I had a really great time at the Saigon Cooking School  learning about Vietnamese cuisine and cooking techniques.
The menu:
Spring Rolls with Prawns
Lotus Salad and Grilled Beef in Bethel leaf.

Here are more pictures from the class 🙂
Spices
Me 🙂 I’m in the process of writing a cookingbook for all my travels! I just love food so much! And to think I use to be such a picky eater.
Spring Rolls
In every Vietnamese kitchen some key ingredient: Fish sauce, Lime juice, Sugar , black pepper and vinegar (rice wine)
The mother of fish sauces!
Lotus root salad! SO GOOD!
Beef and bethel leaf
This is beef….cooked well done. I no longer eat meat (for good this time)

[…] That’s great if you need that kind of help but it also comes with a very significant price tag! Something you won’t find with the Ministry program and BEDA. Or applying to teach in South Korea….or Viet Nam […]

All aboard!
