*Sigggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*
I’ve been in Ulsan for almost 6 months now. Actually 6 months on the 19 of this month! When I first arrived for about the first 2.5 months I’ve had the same regimen I used while still in the states AND I was using bottled water mainly to care for my hair.
After a while this became tedious and costly. So I stopped. I stopped and used the water straight from the shower head to cleanse my hair. I then only used bottled water in my spray bottle. The water in this province use to have a really bad reputation for being very hard and toxic(well at least that is what I read on old blogs). But times have changed and the water is much better than before.
But still I wanted to be cautious when I first arrived. So I used bottled water.Hmmmm so what changed? I got lazy! The weeks on my schedule became increasingly busy. And on wash days I was too tired to care 🙁
Well it serves me right! Never take the lazy route in anything you do in life. If you want to accomplish something give it your ALL or don’t do it at all.
So if I want to be a traveling natural, I need to put the effort back into my hair regimen. Because the consequences are dire if I don’t.
And they were….
The almost three months that I half-assed my hair regimen has caused so much damage. I had split ends and knots galore! It was so bad that I decided it was time to go through my tresses and do a search and destroy. But then I realized that I would need to trim my ends because merely cleaning away the knots and splits ends would not be enough.
Now natural hair is not easier to take care of than relaxed hair. Who ever thinks or says this is a damn fool! It takes just as much effort maybe even more to maintain a head full of kinky coily tresses.
ESPECIALLY when you live abroad and don’t have swift access to certain products and styling tools.
I trimmed away about an inch all around.
And I trimmed my natural hair the easy way! I just twisted each sections and trimmed off the frayed ends.
Let this be a lesson to all of you, don’t be lazy with your hair care.
What are your regimens for the winter? spring? Let me know what works for you 🙂
